A new trailer for Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut delves deep into the dangers of Iki Island, a new playable area for fans of the samurai game. Exclusive to the Director’s Cut, this expansion gives newbies even more reason to jump in, as well as those who may have already completed Jin’s journey.
“If you’re a history buff, you might know that the neighboring island of Iki was raided in addition to Tsushima,” said Sucker Punch when the Director’s Cut was first revealed. “We are happy to announce that a whole new chapter is coming to Jin’s journey and will take place on Iki. In this new story, Jin travels to the island to investigate rumors of a Mongolian presence at events with deeply personal interests that will force him to relive some traumatic moments from his past. “
Check out the latest video below to see what to expect on Iki Island:
Iki Island is the next step in Jin’s journey where he discovers that a mysterious Mongol tribe has started to dig into the island. Jin learns about a shaman named Ankhsar Khatun, who we see in the video above, and about her followers, who are called “eagles”. The shaman claims to rule even the souls of humans, not just the nations he rules, which proves to be Jin’s greatest challenge so far. To face this new threat, Jin must travel to Iki Island, despite past traumas making this adventure far from smooth.
The new expansion includes fresh armor for Jin, new horse armor, mini-games, combat techniques, enemies, environments and even new map options. For the trophy hunters out there, the Director’s Cut will also feature new earned trophies.
For those who have already completed the Ghost of Tsushima adventure on the PlayStation 4, Sucker Punch promises that secure transfers from the PS4 to the PS5 are feasible. The improvements include dual sense haptic feedback and 3D audio, as well as 60 FPS targeted frame rates.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is available for pre-order now, with a full release scheduled for August 20, 2021.
